Country Guides

Every country starts to look different once you stop treating it as a short trip and begin asking what everyday life there would actually feel like.

The City Theory’s Country Guides bring together our destination coverage by country, with dedicated hubs for expat life, remote work, coworking, neighbourhoods, culture, costs, seasonal travel and the practical realities of spending longer periods abroad.

Instead of placing every article on one enormous page, each country now has its own growing collection. Choose a destination below to explore its cities, current guides and the topics we are researching next.

About This Hub

Country Guides is the geographical directory of The City Theory. Each country page works as its own editorial hub, connecting practical guides, city coverage, cultural stories and future research in one place.

Choose a Destination

Start With the Country, Then Go Deeper

Some destinations on The City Theory already have several guides covering different parts of life, while others are only beginning to grow. The country hubs are designed so that new cities, neighbourhoods and topics can be added without turning this main directory into an endless archive.

That also makes it easier to compare places. You can move from remote-work life in Vietnam to expat neighbourhoods in Malta, from the cost of living in the UAE to local-island travel in the Maldives, while still keeping each country’s stories together.

A Growing Global Directory

More Countries Will Be Added as The City Theory Grows

These twelve destinations are the beginning rather than a finished list. New country hubs will be added when there is enough useful coverage to make them genuinely worth exploring, rather than creating empty pages simply to make the directory look larger.

Within existing hubs, the same principle applies: cities and topics expand as new guides are published, allowing each country page to grow naturally into its own useful collection.

The Country Theory

Explore the World Beyond the Tourist Version

From where expats actually live to remote-work routines, local culture, city differences and the realities of longer stays, The City Theory looks at what places feel like once everyday life begins.
